Commending Little Forest Baptist Church.

WHEREAS, for more than 120 years, Little Forest Baptist Church has provided spiritual leadership, opportunities for joyful worship, and generous outreach to the Stafford County community; and
WHEREAS, Little Forest Baptist Church traces its origins to the early 1900s when a small group of devout Christians began holding worship services under a persimmon tree in Stafford County; and
WHEREAS, in 1905, Little Forest Baptist Church's original building was constructed by hand under the leadership of the congregation's first pastor, the Reverend Uriah Johnson; and
WHEREAS, the original building served the community for more than 50 years until 1959, when it was demolished during the construction of Interstate 95; members of the Little Forest Baptist Church continued to meet at a nearby service station until local residents B.A. and Eva Moyler donated land for the construction of a new sanctuary within walking distance of the previous location; and
WHEREAS, a total of only eight pastors have been called to lead Little Forest Baptist Church in its long history; the Reverend Uriah Johnson, the Reverend William Harris, the Reverend Lloyd Watts, the Reverend Isaiah West, the Reverend Walter Lovett, the Reverend Aubrey Jackson, the Reverend Rodney Pulliam, and the Reverend Nelson Sneed; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Sneed joined Little Forest Baptist Church in September 2002 and has faithfully served the congregation for more than 22 years, touching numerous lives through his inspirational preaching and setting an example of servant leadership for others to emulate; and
WHEREAS, over the course of its history, Little Forest Baptist Church has been a beacon of faith, hope, and fellowship for the Stafford County community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Little Forest Baptist Church hereby be commended on the occasion of its 120th anniversary; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Little Forest Baptist Church as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the church's long history and legacy of contributions to the residents of Stafford County.
