Where any verdict is returned against a health care provider in an action for malpractice, the court shall award the plaintiff prejudgment interest at the interest rate provided in § 6.2-302. Such prejudgment interest shall not be subject to or included in the limitations on recovery pursuant to this section. Such prejudgment interest shall be calculated to have commenced on the date of the earliest occurrence of an act of malpractice.
