Commending the Rotary Club of Front Royal.

WHEREAS, for 100 years, the Rotary Club of Front Royal has served as a source of civic leadership and volunteer service, positively affecting the lives of countless individuals and contributing to the long-term well-being of the Town of Front Royal and Warren County; and

WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Front Royal was chartered on May 20, 1926, at a special event held at Updike Hall, with 23 local members and visiting Rotarians from Winchester, Woodstock, Culpeper, and Charlottesville; and

WHEREAS, since its founding, the Rotary Club of Front Royal has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the Rotary motto, “Service Above Self,” and played an important role in fostering community development, humanitarian service, and international understanding; and

WHEREAS, the Rotary Club of Front Royal has contributed to nearly every major civic and community project in Warren County, including Skyline Drive, the Front Royal Fish Hatchery, and the extension of John Marshall Highway to Front Royal, as well as community initiatives at the American Viscose plant and the Front Royal Skate Park; and

WHEREAS, past and present members of the Rotary Club of Front Royal have devoted their time, talents, and resources to housing and clean water initiatives in Costa Rica and Uganda; have provided scholarships to students in Warren County; have supported local nonprofit organizations; and have partnered with Warren County Public Schools and local governments on significant community improvement projects; and

WHEREAS, members of the Rotary Club of Front Royal have supported global efforts to eradicate polio through financial contributions and participation in vaccination initiatives, helping to protect more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries from this debilitating disease; and

WHEREAS, during its first century of service, the Rotary Club of Front Royal has contributed approximately $1.3 million in inflation-adjusted dollars to local, regional, and international community projects; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Rotary Club of Front Royal on the occasion of its centennial anniversary, which is to be celebrated on April 18, 2026; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Rotary Club of Front Royal as an expression of the General Assembly's appreciation for the organization's longstanding contributions to Front Royal and the Commonwealth.
