Commending Walter Samson Howard III.

WHEREAS, Walter Samson Howard III has greatly served the Chesapeake community through various endeavors over the past several decades; and
WHEREAS, Walter Samson “Sam” Howard III graduated in 1973 from Fork Union Military Academy and earned a bachelor's degree four years later from The College of William & Mary, where he played on the school's basketball team; and
WHEREAS, after briefly working for a textile mill, Sam Howard joined Colonial Pipeline and relocated to Chesapeake in 1978; he married his wife, Melissa, a year later and joined Great Bridge Presbyterian Church in Chesapeake two years after that; and
WHEREAS, Sam Howard supported the energy needs of the Commonwealth and the nation for many years with Colonial Pipeline and also found success building custom homes and with an irrigation business; and
WHEREAS, Sam Howard gave generously of his time over the years volunteering through charitable outreach programs at Great Bridge Presbyterian Church and his children's schools and sport activities; and
WHEREAS, Sam Howard served on the board of the nonprofit organization ABBA List and as the director of the Chesapeake Area Shelter Team, providing exceptional leadership to help some of the community's most vulnerable individuals and families; and
WHEREAS, Sam Howard supported the growth and development of others as an elder at Great Bridge Presbyterian Church and a member of the alumni board at Fork Union Military Academy; and
WHEREAS, with unwavering faith and a profound passion for helping those in need, Sam Howard has made an indelible impact on countless lives in Chesapeake and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Walter Samson Howard III for his legacy of service; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Walter Samson Howard III as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for his contributions to Chesapeake and the Commonwealth.
