Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That the Boards of Medicine and Nursing (the Boards) shall jointly assess the feasibility of implementing a pathway to temporary or provisional licensure for individuals seeking licensure as an advanced practice registered nurse pursuant to the provisions of § 54.1-2957 of the Code of Virginia. As part of their assessment, the Boards shall consider eligibility standards, parameters for supervision and practice, and the duration of the temporary or provisional status. The Boards shall develop recommendations for any provisions necessary to protect patient health and safety during such temporary or provisional licensing period. The Boards shall report their findings and recommendations to the Chairs of the House Committee on Health and Human Services and the Senate Committee on Education and Health by November 1, 2026.
