Commending Occohannock Elementary School.

WHEREAS, Occohannock Elementary School of Northampton County Public Schools was named to the Virginia Quality Birth to Five Excellence Honor Roll in 2025; and

WHEREAS, Occohannock Elementary School's distinguished honor indicates that its early childhood program received a rating of Exceeds Expectations, the highest possible rating through the Unified Virginia Quality Birth to Five System (VQB5), the Virginia Department of Education's quality measurement and improvement system for early childhood programs; and

WHEREAS, Occohannock Elementary School was one of 101 early childhood sites to receive an Exceeds Expectation rating through the VQB5, placing it among the top three percent of programs in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Occohannock Elementary School received 718 of 800 possible points on its evaluation, only three points lower than the region's highest score; and

WHEREAS, Occohannock Elementary School is notably one of only two schools and the only public school in its region to maintain its Exceeds Expectations from the previous year; and

WHEREAS, Occohannock Elementary School's recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the school's administrators, teachers, and staff, who strive every day to create foundational learning experiences that encourage students to grow and thrive; and

WHEREAS, by preparing students for success along their educational journeys, Occohannock Elementary School has made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Occohannock Elementary School hereby be commended for being named to the Virginia Quality Birth to Five Excellence Honor Roll; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kathy McCowan, principal of Occohannock Elementary School, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the school's achievements in service to the Commonwealth's youth.
