Commending Vanessa Grigsby.

WHEREAS, Vanessa Grigsby, an esteemed law-enforcement officer and deputy chief of the Leesburg Police Department, retired on January 2, 2026; and

WHEREAS, Vanessa Grigsby faithfully served the Town of Leesburg for nearly three decades, during which time she became the Leesburg Police Department's longest-serving member; and

WHEREAS, in addition to serving twice with distinction as interim chief of police, Vanessa Grigsby provided visionary leadership by advancing a number of impactful programs, including the department's junior police academy, a domestic violence response protocol, and a false alarm reduction initiative; and

WHEREAS, throughout her career, Vanessa Grigsby worked tirelessly to foster ties between the Leesburg Police Department and the community, championing engagement, mentorship, and meaningful partnerships with residents, businesses, and partner agencies; and

WHEREAS, Vanessa Grigsby was deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of law-enforcement professionals, providing many with the skills and expertise needed to succeed in their roles; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her integrity, professionalism, and dedication to public service, Vanessa Grigsby was inducted into the Loudoun Women's Hall of Fame in the leadership category in 2023; and

WHEREAS, Vanessa Grigsby protected and served the Leesburg community with great compassion and sense of purpose, leaving a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire colleagues and citizens alike for years to come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Vanessa Grigsby, deputy chief of the Leesburg Police Department, on the occasion of her retirement; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Vanessa Grigsby as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her service and best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement.
