WHEREAS, Maritza Piñero, an esteemed civil servant who has admirably served the Town of Leesburg and its residents for the past 25 years, retired in 2025; and
WHEREAS, prior to joining the Town of Leesburg's staff, Maritza Piñero earned a bachelor's degree from the Universidad de Puerto Rico and worked in human resources both in the private sector in her hometown of Ceiba, Puerto Rico, and for three years as the human resources director of the Municipality of Ceiba; and
WHEREAS, Maritza Piñero was hired by the Town of Leesburg as a personnel analyst in 2000 and later became the benefits administrator in its Human Resources Department, a position she would hold for the majority of her career with the town; and
WHEREAS, in her role as benefits administrator, Maritza Piñero ensured the effective operation of the Town of Leesburg by working with directors of the Human Resources Department and town managers to oversee employee benefits for the town's workforce; and
WHEREAS, over her tenure with the Town of Leesburg, Maritza Piñero helped the locality streamline and improve its operations to accommodate the growth of its workforce from 150 to more than 400 employees; and
WHEREAS, Maritza Piñero's dedication and service made an impact on the quality of life of countless individuals and families and helped to make the Town of Leesburg a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Maritza Piñero, benefits administrator of the Town of Leesburg, on the occasion of her retirement; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Maritza Piñero as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her contributions to the Town of Leesburg and the Commonwealth.
