Commending the Auburn High School baseball team.

WHEREAS, the Auburn High School baseball team of Riner won the Virginia High School League Class 1 state championship on June 14, 2025, at Billy Sample Field in Salem; and

WHEREAS, the Auburn High School Eagles defeated the Fort Chiswell High School Pioneers of Wythe County by a score of 10–0 to bring home the program's fourth state title in 20 years; and

WHEREAS, after jumping to a quick 5–0 lead in the first inning, the Auburn Eagles coasted to victory as their stellar pitching and defense kept their opponent scoreless over five innings; and

WHEREAS, with their championship win, the Auburn Eagles concluded the season with a dominant 26–1–1 record and went undefeated in regional play; and

WHEREAS, the Auburn Eagles were recognized for their efforts with several Virginia High School League Class 1 honors, including Coach of the Year for coach Eric Altizer, Player of the Year for first baseman Zac McGlothlin, and five other all-state first team selections; and

WHEREAS, the Auburn Eagles' triumphant finish to the season was a special moment for the six seniors who had been with the program for four years and who were foundational to the team's success; and

WHEREAS, the Auburn Eagles' accomplishment is the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the unwavering support of the entire Auburn High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Auburn High School baseball team; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Eric Altizer, coach of the Auburn High School baseball team, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievements.
