Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Article 6 of Chapter 15 of Title 15.2 a section numbered 15.2-1535.1 as follows:

§ 15.2-1535.1. Members of governing body not to hold certain employment; prohibition on taking certain votes.

A. A member of a governing body of a locality shall not hold any other position of employment with such locality. If any member of a governing body of a locality begins or continues in another position of employment with such locality on or after the day on which his term begins, his office shall be deemed vacant.

B. No member of a governing body of a locality shall take any vote on any subject related to his former employment with such locality within one year of terminating such employment.
