Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding a section numbered 15.2-2283.2 as follows:

§ 15.2-2283.2. Siting of data centers; property zoned for industrial use.

Any local government land use application required for the siting of a data center shall only be approved if such application is for a data center located on a parcel of land zoned for industrial use or used for such purpose. This section shall only apply to such local government land use applications submitted on or after July 1, 2026. "Data center" means the same as that term is defined in subdivision A 43 of § 58.1-3506.
