Celebrating the life of Dana Fraley Gray.

WHEREAS, Dana Fraley Gray, a dedicated civil servant, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and beloved member of the Hampton community, died on September 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and service; and
WHEREAS, a native of Norfolk, Dana Fraley Gray displayed from her earliest years the warmth, curiosity, and kindness that would define her life; and
WHEREAS, a lifelong Catholic, Dana Fraley Gray attended the former Christ the King Catholic School and what was previously known as Norfolk Catholic High School before continuing her education at Virginia Commonwealth University, where she earned a bachelor's degree; and
WHEREAS, after college, Dana Fraley Gray embarked on an early career as a flight attendant, embracing the opportunity to travel across the country and around the world before returning home to the Commonwealth, where she became one of the inaugural employees of the Virginia Lottery; and
WHEREAS, during her 30-year career with the Commonwealth, Dana Fraley Gray embodied the very best of civil service with her professionalism, warmth, and integrity; and
WHEREAS, Dana Fraley Gray found lasting happiness when she met and married the love of her life, James “Jimmy” Gray; and
WHEREAS, as the wife of a public servant, Dana Fraley Gray was an active and steadfast partner in her husband's political journey, offering her insights, encouragement, and tireless support throughout his years of service to the community; and
WHEREAS, Dana Fraley Gray was a proud and engaged member of several civic and cultural organizations, including The Links, Incorporated, The Holidays, The Drifters, and the Hampton Arts Foundation, where she worked to promote community, culture, and fellowship; and
WHEREAS, Dana Fraley Gray met life's challenges with grace and perseverance, maintaining her vibrant spirit and optimism and inspiring all who knew her through her strength and elegance; and
WHEREAS, Dana Fraley Gray will be lovingly remembered by her husband, James; her children, Khalid, Christopher, Felicia, and Danielle; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Dana Fraley Gray, a beloved and highly admired member of the Hampton community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Dana Fraley Gray as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for her memory.
