HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 883

Commending Tucker Wright.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 21, 2025

WHEREAS, in 2025, Tucker Wright, a young philanthropist who has devoted many years to supporting others in need, was named Volunteer of the Year by Homestretch, an organization dedicated to helping unhoused families achieve self-sufficiency; and

WHEREAS, from a young age, Tucker Wright recognized that there were members of the community who were less fortunate than he was, and he set out without delay to raise money to support them, one penny at a time; and

WHEREAS, Tucker Wright began working with Homestretch at the age of eight, when he started a fundraising campaign to assist the organization with the purchase of mattresses for the children it served; and

WHEREAS, Tucker Wright raised $1,200 for his cause within the first 28 days and continued to pursue this endeavor with great enthusiasm and sense of purpose, collecting approximately $30,000 in total over the last seven years; and

WHEREAS, Tucker Wright is consistently looking for new ways to advance Homestretch's mission, from coin jars at local offices of McEnearney Associates Realtors, to bake sales, to his latest venture, Strike Out Homelessness, a bowling event that rallies the community around an uplifting and worthwhile cause; and

WHEREAS, Tucker Wright's Strike Out Homelessness event has not only raised significant funds for Homestretch and the families it serves, it has also inspired other young people to get involved in making a difference in their community, an impact that will redound for years to come; and

WHEREAS, Tucker Wright has been a distinguished attendee of Homestretch's Annual Benefit Breakfast for several years, and at this year's breakfast on April 30, 2025, he will be recognized for the extraordinary efforts he has made for the benefit of the organization and the community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Tucker Wright hereby be commended for being named the 2025 Homestretch Volunteer of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Tucker Wright as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to Homestretch and the Commonwealth.
