HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 857

Commending Tarrallton Elementary School.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 21, 2025

WHEREAS, Tarrallton Elementary School in Norfolk received the Exemplar Performance-Highest Achievement Award from the Virginia Board of Education in 2024; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia Board of Education's Exemplar School Recognition Program recognizes schools in the Commonwealth that meet or exceed state benchmarks in reading, mathematics, and science, as well as other criteria; and

WHEREAS, this prestigious award highlights Tarrallton Elementary School's dedication to academic excellence, low chronic absenteeism, and success in narrowing achievement gaps among student groups; and

WHEREAS, Tarrallton Elementary School's commitment to continuous improvement and student success exemplifies the highest standards of education in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, as a Purple Star School, Tarrallton Elementary School has previously been recognized for its support for military families, and it has earned many other awards and accolades at the state level; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Tarrallton Elementary School hereby be commended on winning the Exemplar Performance-Highest Achievement Award in 2024; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kimberly M. Saunders, principal of Tarrallton Elementary School, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the school's ongoing commitment to excellence in service to its students.
