HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 823

Celebrating the life of Beverly Hicks Diamonstein.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 21, 2025

WHEREAS, Beverly Hicks Diamonstein, who greatly served Newport News and the Commonwealth in various capacities over the years, died on November 11, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Beverly Diamonstein demonstrated extraordinary strength and resolve as she raised her four children as a single mother; and

WHEREAS, Beverly Diamonstein married the Honorable Alan A. Diamonstein on October 28, 1972, and supported him greatly throughout his career in public service; and

WHEREAS, Beverly Diamonstein provided insightful advice to a great number of leaders over the years and helped many Democratic candidates in their campaigns for office; and

WHEREAS, Beverly Diamonstein believed deeply in empowering women to become leaders and was a devoted fundraiser for initiatives such as the Virginia Women's Cultural History Project and Hadassah, the Women's Zionist Organization of America; and

WHEREAS, with a passion for advancing the arts, Beverly Diamonstein was highly involved with the former Peninsula Fine Arts Center and with the creation of the Ferguson Center for the Arts in Newport News, and she served many years on the board of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and with the museum's foundation; and

WHEREAS, preceded in death by her husband, Alan, Beverly Diamonstein will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by numerous family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Beverly Hicks Diamonstein, whose dedication and legacy of service inspired all who knew her; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Beverly Hicks Diamonstein as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
