HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 800

Commending Andrew Terrill.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 19, 2025

WHEREAS, Andrew Terrill, an honorable veteran and distinguished law-enforcement officer who oversaw the Operations Division of the Town of Culpeper Police Department, retired in 2024; and

WHEREAS, Andrew Terrill embarked upon his noble career in law enforcement while serving his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Marine Corps; and

WHEREAS, Andrew Terrill briefly served with the Culpeper County Sheriff's Office as a patrolman, then joined the Culpeper Police Department and began rising through the ranks over his distinguished 27-tenure with the department; and

WHEREAS, Andrew Terrill was promoted to captain of the Culpeper Police Department's Support Division in 2023 and a year later took the helm of the Operations Division, overseeing the department's patrol operations, community policing, and investigations divisions; and

WHEREAS, with experience as a patrol officer and detective in the patrol, street crimes, and general investigations divisions, Andrew Terrill was instrumental in expanding the Town of Culpeper's Neighborhood Watch program; he also served as a member of the Culpeper County Drug Court; and

WHEREAS, Andrew Terrill is a graduate of the Professional Executive Leadership School at the University of Richmond, the Institute for Leadership in Changing Times at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and the FBI-LEEDA, Inc., Trilogy Series; and

WHEREAS, through his unwavering commitment to protecting and serving the Culpeper community, Andrew Terrill has exemplified the virtues of the law-enforcement profession, earning the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Andrew Terrill, captain of the Operations Division of the Town of Culpeper Police Department, hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Andrew Terrill as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for his legacy of service and best wishes for his future endeavors.
