HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 778
Commending Chris Scott.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 18, 2025
WHEREAS, Chris Scott, head coach of the Oscar F. Smith High School football team, was named the Virginia High School League Class 6 Coach of the Year in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Chris Scott led the Oscar Smith High School football team to a Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class 6 state championship with a thrilling 21–20 win over James Madison High School of Fairfax County on December 14, 2024, which capped a remarkable, undefeated season; and
WHEREAS, Chris Scott was named head coach of the Oscar Smith High School football team in 2019 and previously won VHSL state championships in 2020 and 2021, establishing the Oscar Smith Tigers as one of the most dominant squads in the Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Chris Scott motivates his players to achieve their full potential, while also showing great concern for their well-being academically, physically, socially, and emotionally; and
WHEREAS, Chris Scott generously imparts his knowledge and deep understanding of the game of football to his players, encouraging their triumphs both on the gridiron and in life; and
WHEREAS, with a passion for winning and an unwavering commitment to his players, Chris Scott has epitomized the virtues of coaching, earning the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Chris Scott hereby be commended for being named the 2024 Virginia High School League Class 6 Coach of the Year; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Chris Scott as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for his achievements and best wishes for his continued success.
