HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 699
Celebrating the life of Captain Rebecca M. Lobach, USA.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 17, 2025
WHEREAS, Captain Rebecca M. Lobach, USA, a helicopter pilot with the United States Army, died during a training mission on January 29, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca Lobach grew up in Durham, North Carolina; she attended Sewanee: The University of the South, where she played basketball, and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC); and
WHEREAS, a member of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at UNC, Rebecca Lobach was honored as a distinguished military graduate and was in the top 20 percent of cadets nationwide; she was also recruited into the North Carolina National Guard during her college years; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca Lobach was stationed at Fort Belvoir in Fairfax County, where she had been a member of the 12th Aviation Battalion, under the United States Army Military District of Washington, since 2019; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca Lobach volunteered as White House military social aide, assisting with Presidential Medal of Freedom and Medal of Honor ceremonies, along with other official events; she also served her fellow soldiers as a certified Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention victim advocate; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca Lobach received the Army Commendation Medal and the Army Achievement Medal, among many other awards and decorations; and
WHEREAS, Rebecca Lobach will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by numerous family members, friends, and fellow soldiers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Captain Rebecca M. Lobach, USA, an experienced pilot with the United States Army; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Captain Rebecca M. Lobach, USA, as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for her memory.
