HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 681
Celebrating the life of Kris Kehoe Southwick.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 13, 2025
WHEREAS, Kris Kehoe Southwick, an honorable veteran, esteemed federal agent, and beloved member of the Warrenton community, died on December 2, 2023; and
WHEREAS, born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Kris Southwick earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Radford University in 1998; and
WHEREAS, Kris Southwick joined the United States Marine Corps in 2001 as an infantry officer, completed tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, and rose to the rank of captain before leaving the service in 2004; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of his valor and leadership in combat, Kris Southwick was presented the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal; and
WHEREAS, Kris Southwick continued to serve his country with honor and distinction for more than 18 years as a federal agent with the United States Department of State and United States Department of Homeland Security; and
WHEREAS, Kris Southwick was an exceptional athlete whose achievements included 19 United States Marine Corps Marathons, various triathlons, including the IRONMAN Maryland, and the JFK 50 Mile race; and
WHEREAS, Kris Southwick supported the health and well-being of young people as a coach for a variety of youth sports in Fauquier County, including Little League baseball, travel baseball, flag football, and tackle football; and
WHEREAS, above all else, Kris Southwick embraced his role as the father to his three children, and he found no greater joy than to spend quality time with his family; and
WHEREAS, Kris Southwick will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife of 19 years, Alicia; his children, Clay, Emory, and Cyrus; his mother, Karlyn; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Delegates hereby note with great sadness the loss of Kris Kehoe Southwick, whose positivity, integrity, and legacy of service inspired all who knew him; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Kris Kehoe Southwick as an expression of the House of Delegates' respect for his memory.
