HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 679

Commending George Walton Weller.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 17, 2025

WHEREAS, George Walton Weller, an honorable veteran and distinguished firefighter, has served his community with the Verona Volunteer Fire Company for 65 years; and

WHEREAS, prior to his firefighting career, George Weller served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War; and

WHEREAS, George Weller helped found the Verona Volunteer Fire Company in 1959 and has served the organization ever since, supporting its growth and development from a single-engine operation to an all-hazards emergency response service; and

WHEREAS, at the age of 91, George Weller remains an active member of the Verona Volunteer Fire Company, guiding and mentoring its members and aiding its efforts to safeguard and serve the community; and

WHEREAS, at its annual banquet on March 14, 2025, the Verona Volunteer Fire Company will honor George Weller for his remarkable 65 years of service, providing an opportunity to reflect on the profound and lasting impact he has had on the community; and

WHEREAS, through his longstanding and selfless dedication and unwavering commitment to the well-being of Verona and its residents, George Weller has earned the praise and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That George Walton Weller hereby be commended for his legacy of service with the Verona Volunteer Fire Company; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to George Walton Weller as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for his contributions to Verona and the Commonwealth.
