HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 673
Commending Paul Kakol.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 17, 2025
WHEREAS, Paul Kakol, an esteemed law-enforcement officer and sergeant with the Purcellville Police Department, retired in 2025; and
WHEREAS, prior to his career in law enforcement, Paul Kakol served his country with honor and distinction as a member of the United States Army's 82nd Airborne Division, during which time he was deployed for several combat and humanitarian aid missions; and
WHEREAS, Paul Kakol began his law-enforcement career in 2002 as a member of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police Department, where he supported the agency's bicycle safety team and drug intervention team and was a field training officer; and
WHEREAS, Paul Kakol joined the Purcellville Police Department in February 2005 and served for several years as a patrol officer until he was promoted to the rank of corporal in 2014 and to the rank of sergeant in 2020; and
WHEREAS, Paul Kakol has supported the Purcellville Police Department over the years in his capacities as lead firearms instructor, Explorer post advisor, bike safety patrol member, certified Crisis Intervention Team member, training coordinator, and field training officer; and
WHEREAS, Paul Kakol's exemplary service has been recognized with the Valor Life Saving Award in 2011 and the Bronze Medal of Valor in 2017, which was presented to him after he saved the life of a Purcellville resident; and
WHEREAS, as a PATHH Guide with the Boulder Crest Foundation, Paul Kakol has worked tirelessly to help his fellow veterans and first responders overcome past traumas so they can lead happier and more fulfilling lives; and
WHEREAS, through his selfless dedication and unwavering commitment to Purcellville and its residents, particularly those who are most vulnerable, Paul Kakol has embodied the ideals of the law-enforcement profession, earning the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Paul Kakol hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement from the Purcellville Police Department; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Paul Kakol as an expression of the House of Delegates' high regard for his contributions to Purcellville and the Commonwealth and best wishes for a rewarding retirement.
