HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 610
Commending the Virginia Women and Family Support Center.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 10, 2025
WHEREAS, since 2016, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center has assisted several families in the Prince William County area through its housing, maternal health, and child development services; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center was established to provide a place where pregnant women facing housing instability could find both a safe home for their young families and services to help them achieve independence and self-sufficiency; and
WHEREAS, through vital services such as case management, childcare assistance, job training, and mental health support, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center prepares the women it serves to achieve bright futures and sustainable success; and
WHEREAS, by creating a stable home for young mothers, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center fulfills not only their basic needs, but increases the chances that they will break the cycle of poverty and that their children will have better educational and health outcomes; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center offers its mothers a range of maternal healthcare services, including both prenatal and postpartum care, to ensure their health and the health of their babies both during and after their pregnancies; and
WHEREAS, children in the Virginia Women and Family Support Center's program benefit from exceptional pediatric care and high-quality enrichment activities designed to foster their development and help them reach their full potential; and
WHEREAS, in 2024, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center helped more than 400 families; and
WHEREAS, in addition to its initial residence in Haymarket, the Virginia Women and Family Support Center is currently expanding into new properties in Gainesville and Manassas, which will greatly enhance the organization's ability to make a positive and lasting difference in the lives of the women and children it serves; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Virginia Women and Family Support Center hereby be commended for its efforts to uplift and empower women and children in the Prince William County area; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Virginia Women and Family Support Center as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's achievements in pursuit of its mission.
