HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 575

Commending Saint Anne Catholic School.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 10, 2025

WHEREAS, Saint Anne Catholic School, a distinguished institution of learning in Bristol, celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2024; and

WHEREAS, Saint Anne Catholic School was founded in 1949 by Monsignor James J. Hickie, then pastor of Saint Anne Catholic Church in Bristol, who envisioned a school that would wed scholarly rigor with faith-based character development to nurture the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being of its students; and

WHEREAS, Saint Anne Catholic School provides a comprehensive curriculum for students from preschool through eighth grade and accepts individuals of all faiths from both Bristol and the surrounding area so that all may benefit from its exceptional educational program; and

WHEREAS, the oldest private school in Bristol and the city's only Catholic school, Saint Anne Catholic School notably has several students today who are the third generation in their families to attend the school; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Saint Anne Catholic School are the result of the care and devotion of the school's educators, administrators, staff, and volunteers, who have worked tirelessly to ensure the academic and spiritual development of their students; and

WHEREAS, Saint Anne Catholic School has flourished over the years from the financial, religious, and community support of Saint Anne Catholic Church, a partnership that has strengthened both the school and the church; and

WHEREAS, with the education they received at Saint Anne Catholic School, countless young people have grown into thoughtful, compassionate, and engaged members of their communities who strive every day to make a difference in the lives of others both in Bristol and beyond; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Saint Anne Catholic School hereby be commended on the occasion of its 75th anniversary; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Saint Anne Catholic School as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the school's legacy of educational excellence and best wishes for its continued success.
