HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 565
Commending the Warren Coalition.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 3, 2025
WHEREAS, for 30 years, the Warren Coalition has worked diligently to build a stronger, safer, drug-free community, where young people can thrive and achieve their fullest potential; and
WHEREAS, the Warren Coalition was established in 1994 at Warren Memorial Hospital as an outreach program designed to fill local gaps in healthcare and substance abuse awareness; and
WHEREAS, the program was a success, and the Warren Coalition quickly expanded to become an independent nonprofit organization in 2001; and
WHEREAS, currently located in the Warren Community Center, the Warren Coalition coordinates with more than 15 member agencies to address the most pressing issues in the community and help keep young people safe and healthy by providing educational programs, engaging activities, and compassionate support; and
WHEREAS, the Warren Coalition has developed a wide range of in-school and after-school programs to give young people positive outlets and help them build a strong sense of community ownership; and
WHEREAS, the Warren Coalition offers recovery services that provide opportunities for support from peer groups, as well as mentoring, coaching, and other resources; the organization also maintains recovery homes that facilitate outpatient treatment while helping residents prepare for independent living; and
WHEREAS, the Warren Coalition also participates in community events like Celebrate Kids Day, which features activities for children of all ages, and Red Ribbon Week, the largest drug abuse prevention campaign in the country; and
WHEREAS, the Warren Coalition has fulfilled its mission through the hard work and dedication of its talented staff members, board members, volunteers, and local supporters representing a cross-section of Warren County residents, business leaders, school officials, and youth representatives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That the Warren Coalition hereby be commended on the occasion of its 30th anniversary of service to the youths of Warren County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Christa Shifflett, executive director of the Warren Coalition, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the organization's legacy of achievements on behalf of the Warren County community.
