HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 559
Commending Nick Mayhugh.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 3, 2025
WHEREAS, Nick Mayhugh, a native of Manassas and a graduate of Radford University, represented the Commonwealth at the 2024 Summer Paralympics in Paris, France, competing for Team USA in the T38 long jump event and T38 100-meter race; and
WHEREAS, Nick Mayhugh was diagnosed with a mild form of Cerebral Palsy following a seizure in 2010, but thanks to his determination and perseverance, he was able to play Division I soccer at Radford University from 2015 to 2018; and
WHEREAS, Nick Mayhugh joined what is now known as the United States Men's CP National Team, a 7-a-side soccer team for men with cerebral palsy, and helped lead the team to a historic bronze medal finish at the 2019 Parapan American Games; and
WHEREAS, Nick Mayhugh subsequently switched to track and field and was selected as a member of Team USA for the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, where he won three gold medals and one silver medal, setting a world record with a time of 10.95 seconds in the men's T37 100-meter race; and
WHEREAS, Nick Mayhugh returned to Team USA for the 2024 Summer Paralympics and placed fifth in the T38 long jump event and seventh in the T38 100-meter race; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Nick Mayhugh hereby be commended for his performance as a member of Team USA at the 2024 Summer Paralympics; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Nick Mayhugh as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his athletic achievements and best wishes for the future.
