HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 556

Commending Kaitlyn Gabriel.

Agreed to by the House of Delegates, February 3, 2025

WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Gabriel, a sixth grade civics and economics teacher at Oscar Smith Middle School, was named Teacher of the Year by Chesapeake Public Schools for 2025; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Gabriel earned a bachelor's degree in middle-level education with a concentration in social studies from Shippensburg University and a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from Western Governors University; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Gabriel exudes a passion for teaching that permeates her classroom, boosting her students' confidence and inspiring them to approach their education with energy and enthusiasm; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Gabriel cultivates a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes a sense of community in her classroom and enables all of her students to thrive; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Gabriel has fostered the academic, social, and emotional well-being of her students, encouraging them to succeed both in and out of the classroom; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Gabriel contributes to the growth and development of her students as Oscar Smith Middle School's soccer coach, sharing skills and advice that will help her players not only on the field but in life; and

WHEREAS, Kaitlyn Gabriel gives generously of her time to mentor and support her fellow faculty members, imparting engagement strategies and other teaching methods to help them achieve success in their classrooms; and

WHEREAS, as Chesapeake Public School's Teacher of the Year, Kaitlyn Gabriel is the division's nominee for the Virginia State Teacher of the Year award in 2025; and

WHEREAS, by epitomizing the values and ideals of the teaching profession, Kaitlyn Gabriel has made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives and is deserving of the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Kaitlyn Gabriel hereby be commended for being named the 2025 Chesapeake Public Schools Teacher of the Year; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Kaitlyn Gabriel as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her service and achievements in educating the Commonwealth's youth.
