HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 608
Commending Paula Kwiek.

WHEREAS, Paula Kwiek, one of the winningest female racers in the history of all-terrain vehicle Tourist Trophy flat track racing and a member of the Greater Richmond community, was presented with the New East Extreme Dirt Track National Championship Series Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Paula Kwiek began racing in 1989 at the age of eight and quickly progressed from a 50cc all-terrain vehicle (ATV) to a 250R two-stroke pro platform ATV; and
WHEREAS, Paula Kwiek continued to hone her skills and began winning local races in various age classes throughout the 1990s; and
WHEREAS, as Paula Kwiek won a number of races in the 2000s that either had never been won by a woman or were rarely won by women, she became a trailblazer of ATV Tourist Trophy flat track racing and a major inspiration to other female ATV racers around the country; and
WHEREAS, in 2009, Paula Kwiek redoubled her efforts and won her first women's national series championship; she has since won a total of 12 national titles, including 10 in the women's class and eight back-to-back; and
WHEREAS, Paula Kwiek's remarkable accomplishments over her 35 years of racing are a product of her hard work and dedication and the unwavering support of her family, including her mother and father, who made great sacrifices to get her to her races when she was younger; and
WHEREAS, Paula Kwiek has given back to her sport by generously supporting, sponsoring, and mentoring the next generation of young aspiring racers, particularly women, in the world of ATV Tourist Trophy flat track racing; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her triumphs, including more than 300 racing wins, Paula Kwiek has been featured in numerous magazines, podcasts, and newspapers and presented with various accolades, including induction into the Indiana County, Pennsylvania, Sports Hall of Fame in 2007; and
WHEREAS, after more than three decades, Paula Kwiek shows no signs of slowing, ensuring that her legacy in the sport of ATV Tourist Trophy flat track racing will only continue to grow for years to come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Paula Kwiek for receiving the 2024 New East Extreme Dirt Track National Championship Series Lifetime Achievement Award; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Paula Kwiek as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her achievements and best wishes for her continued success.
