HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 529
Commending the MOC Beagles.

WHEREAS, the MOC Beagles was created in 1961 by famed horsewoman and conservationist Eve Fout as a means to teach junior riders about foxhunting and the rural landscape in Virginia's northern Piedmont region; and
WHEREAS, the MOC Beagles supports the only beagle pack in the world that is followed on horseback and chases foxes; and
WHEREAS, the MOC Beagles is located near beautiful, historic Middleburg—the heart of horse country—with terrain composed of rolling meadows, woods and streams, and stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains; and
WHEREAS, the MOC Beagles is a nonprofit organization run entirely by volunteers that encourages children and their families to take an active part in the region's long tradition of field sports and to support volunteer projects in land and wildlife conservation; and
WHEREAS, the MOC Beagles is currently lead by Nina Fout, an Olympic medalist, famed equestrian, and daughter of founder Eve Fout; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the MOC Beagles for its service to young people and their families in Virginia's northern Piedmont region, as well as its preservation of foxhunting traditions and stewardship of the countryside; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Nina Fout and the junior foxhunters and equestrians of the MOC Beagles as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's history and its service to the Commonwealth.
