HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 525

Commending Arrington's Home Furnishings.

WHEREAS, for more than 50 years, Arrington's Home Furnishings, a family-owned business in Clarksville, has provided high-quality products and personal service to customers throughout the region; and

WHEREAS, in 1972, Earnest and Maria Arrington arrived in Clarksville and opened Arrington's Home Furnishings on Virginia Avenue; the couple spent a few years commuting between Clarksville and Danville, where Earnest was attending college, then settled in the apartment above the store; and

WHEREAS, originally selling televisions and offering repair services, Arrington's Home Furnishings expanded to offer appliances, furniture, bedding, flooring, HVAC equipment, and other pieces to help customers make a house a home; and

WHEREAS, in the late 1990s, as the business continued to grow and thrive, Arrington's Home Furnishings relocated from its downtown storefront to a new location, equipped with a 10,000-square-foot showroom, at 11220 U.S. Route 15 in Clarksville; and

WHEREAS, in addition to offering competitive prices on top home furnishing brands, Arrington's Home Furnishings has always emphasized the importance of excellent customer service and proudly offers repairs and maintenance on all the items it sells; and

WHEREAS, Arrington's Home Furnishings has built strong relationships with generations of customers, listening to their needs and going above and beyond to provide expert service and create the best overall experience; and

WHEREAS, Arrington's Home Furnishings has also given back to the community by supporting charitable organizations and donating items to people in need; and

WHEREAS, three generations of the Arrington family have served the community at Arrington's Home Furnishings; Earnest and Maria's daughters, Michelle, Andrea, and Stephanie, began working in the store in the mid-1990s, and some of their own children, Blake, Courtney, and Hannah, have followed in their mothers' footsteps; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Arrington's Home Furnishings for more than five decades of outstanding service to the residents of Clarksville and the surrounding area; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Arrington's Home Furnishings as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its legacy of contributions to the Clarksville community as a trusted local business.
