Commending Valerie Pisierra.

WHEREAS, Valerie Pisierra, an esteemed nonprofit executive and community leader, retired from her position as executive director of Loudoun Cares in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Valerie Pisierra joined Loudoun Cares part-time in 2016 and quickly became an indispensable member of the organization; and
WHEREAS, one year after joining Loudoun Cares, Valerie Pisierra was chosen by the board of directors to steer the organization through its next chapter; and
WHEREAS, as executive director of Loudoun Cares, Valerie Pisierra guided the organization's efforts to unite local nonprofits providing direct services to individuals and families in the community in need; and
WHEREAS, Valerie Pisierra was instrumental to Loudoun Cares' accomplishments during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the organization's role as a hub for local nonprofits was more vital than ever; and
WHEREAS, in addition to fostering a partnership with the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington that established a COVID relief fund and helpline, Valerie Pisierra and Loudoun Cares helped to distribute more than $2.7 million in rent and utility assistance to more than 1,200 families, connected more than 3,000 families with direct services, and placed more than 1,300 volunteers at local nonprofits to support essential services in the community; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of Valerie Pisierra's hard work and extraordinary impact during the historic public health crisis, the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce named Loudoun Cares the Small Business of the Year and Nonprofit of the Year in 2021 and Valerie Pisierra the Nonprofit Executive of the Year in 2022; and
WHEREAS, following her retirement from Loudoun Cares, Valerie Pisierra plans to continue to volunteer with some of her favorite local nonprofits, ensuring her leadership and dedication will continue to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others both in Loudoun County and beyond; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Valerie Pisierra on the occasion of her retirement as executive director of Loudoun Cares; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Valerie Pisierra as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her contributions to the Commonwealth and best wishes in her future endeavors.
