HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 483

Commending Cadet Colonel Anna Stroz, CAP.

WHEREAS, in 2024, Cadet Colonel Anna Stroz, CAP, a member of Hampton Roads Composite Squadron in the Virginia Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, received the General Carl A. Spaatz Award, the highest honor presented to Civil Air Patrol cadets nationwide; and

WHEREAS, Anna Stroz is a student at Hickory High School in Chesapeake, where she is in the top five percent of her class with a 4.5 GPA; she is a member of the National Honor Society and the varsity tennis team, as well as a prolific volunteer for the Red Cross and other organizations; and

WHEREAS, Anna Stroz joined the Hampton Roads Composite Squadron in August 2019 and has distinguished herself through her high achievements in leadership and dedication to service; she has previously served as squadron cadet commander and winter encampment cadet commander as well as deputy commander of the support and first aid teams at summer encampments; and

WHEREAS, Anna Stroz was one of 100 Civil Air Patrol cadets in the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada to attend the Civil Air Patrol Cadet Officer School in 2024 and furthered her leadership development at the 2024 session of the Virginia Girls State program of the American Legion Auxiliary; and

WHEREAS, after graduation, Anna Stroz hopes to attend the United States Air Force Academy with a goal of becoming a trauma surgeon; and

WHEREAS, the General Carl A. Spaatz Award recognizes cadets who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in leadership, character, fitness, and aerospace education; Anna Stroz was the 2,546th recipient of the award since its inception in 1964; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Cadet Colonel Anna Stroz, CAP, on receiving the prestigious General Carl A. Spaatz Award; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Cadet Colonel Anna Stroz, CAP, as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her achievements in service to the Commonwealth and the nation.
