HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 482

Commending the Auburn High School golf team.

Agreed to by the Senate, January 23, 2025

WHEREAS, the Auburn High School golf team of Riner won the Virginia High School League Class 1 state championship at Great Oaks Country Club in Floyd County on October 15, 2024; and

WHEREAS, the Auburn High School Eagles defeated Northumberland High School by 34 strokes to secure the program's second straight state championship title; and

WHEREAS, the Auburn Eagles saw strong performances by all of its golfers in its victory, including Drew Royal, who won the Virginia High School League Class 1 individual title by two strokes; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the Auburn Eagles are the result of the hard work and dedication of the student-athletes, the leadership and guidance of their coaches and teachers, and the steadfast support of their families and the entire Auburn High School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, the Senate concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend the Auburn High School golf team for winning the 2024 Virginia High School League Class 1 state championship; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the Auburn High School golf team as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the team's achievement.
