HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 532
Commending Cub Scout Pack 2831.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 27, 2025
WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack 2831, founded in 1998 and operating within the Heart of Virginia Council's Arrohattoc District, serves as a cornerstone of Scouting excellence and community service for boys and girls in Chesterfield County and the surrounding areas; and
WHEREAS, the Arrohattoc District includes the portions of Chesterfield County south of the Powhite Parkway and Old Hundred Road, north of Happy Hill Road, and west of Interstate 95, as well as Amelia County and Nottoway County, and Cub Scout Pack 2831 is proud to represent this vibrant and diverse community; and
WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack 2831 meets at Woodlake United Methodist Church and is sponsored by the Friends of Pocahontas State Park, both of which help provide a strong foundation for the more than 100 members of the pack, who are in kindergarten through fifth grade, to grow as individuals and leaders; and
WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack 2831 instills good values and life skills in its members, who embody the Cub Scout motto, “Do Your Best,” and adhere to the Scout Law to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent; and
WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack 2831 consistently excels in fundraising, ranking as the top fundraiser in its district and among the top fundraisers in the country through its popcorn and peanut sales, demonstrating the dedication of its Scouts and leaders, as well as their families and friends; and
WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack 2831 provides a robust, year-round schedule, including school-year den and pack meetings, an active summer program, quarterly camping adventures, service projects, and community events that engage and inspire its members; and
WHEREAS, Cub Scout Pack 2831 offers a wide range of activities, such as the Pinewood Derby, bottle rocket launches, fishing, hiking, biking, first aid, knot tying, public speaking, and teamwork events to help young people develop confidence, skills, and a sense of camaraderie; and
WHEREAS, the dedicated adult leaders, or Akelas, of Cub Scout Pack 2831 work tirelessly to prepare Scouts for continued success in other Scout troops and to become leaders in their communities; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Cub Scout Pack 2831 hereby be commended for its longstanding commitment to fostering leadership, life skills, and a passion for community service in young people in Chesterfield County and beyond; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Cub Scout Pack 2831 as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for its achievements and best wishes for continued success in its mission to shape future leaders.
