HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 530
Commending Judi Miller.
Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 27, 2025
WHEREAS, for more than 15 years, Judi Miller served and safeguarded the residents of Prince William County as an emergency medical professional with the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, Judi Miller joined the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department in October 2008 and rose through the ranks to become an emergency medical services lieutenant, captain, and rescue chief; and
WHEREAS, as the first person to ever score a 100 percent on her emergency medical technician (EMT) exam, Judi Miller also became an EMT instructor, and nearly every EMT at the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department benefited from her common sense approach to learning and her commitment to excellence; and
WHEREAS, Judi Miller upheld the highest standards of training and certification for the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department; she mentored, supported, and befriended many interns and younger officers and wrote countless recommendations for college and professional applications; and
WHEREAS, Judi Miller went above and beyond to fulfill her duties and worked diligently to ensure that the department was prepared to respond to every emergency; and
WHEREAS, over the course of her career, Judi Miller responded to a wide range of calls for service, including severe injuries and other disasters, and it is rumored that Prince William County officials had her phone number on speed dial, a testament to her indispensable expertise; and
WHEREAS, Judi Miller was an active member of the Prince William County EMS Committee, and as vice chair, she built strong working relationships with career staff members while serving as a staunch advocate for volunteers and other basic life support providers; and
WHEREAS, in addition, Judi Miller became a trusted source of institutional knowledge for a succession of operational medical directors; and
WHEREAS, Judi Miller supported her fellow public safety officers at Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department Station 25 as the station gardener, and she prepared legendary meals that elevated traditional firehouse cooking to fine dining; and
WHEREAS, Judi Miller often visited bereaved families or attended funerals and celebrations of life honoring the patients for whom she cared, touching countless lives through her kindness and compassion; and
WHEREAS, Judi Miller always strove to promote a culture of excellence at the Nokesville Volunteer Fire Department, and she leaves the department well prepared to carry on her legacy of outstanding service; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Judi Miller hereby be commended for more than 15 years of service to Nokesville, Prince William County, and the Commonwealth as an emergency medical professional; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Judi Miller as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for her dedication, leadership, and commitment to her community as she proceeds to the next stage of her accomplished life and career.
