HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 495

Commending Saltville Elementary School.



Agreed to by the House of Delegates, January 27, 2025

WHEREAS, Saltville Elementary School of Smyth County Public Schools was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education in 2024; and

WHEREAS, Saltville Elementary School was one of eight schools in the Commonwealth to receive this prestigious honor, which recognizes schools for their overall academic achievement or accomplishments in closing the achievement gap; and

WHEREAS, Saltville Elementary School's honor is a testament to the commitment and dedication of the school's faculty and staff, who work tirelessly every day to cultivate a safe, happy, and inclusive learning environment in which all students may thrive; and

WHEREAS, through high-quality, rigorous instruction, continuous review guided by data-driven decision making, and a proactive, trauma-informed approach to behavior management, Saltville Elementary School's educators ensure the academic, social, and emotional well-being of their students; and

WHEREAS, by making every student feel valued and respected and providing them with the resources they need to learn and grow as individuals, Saltville Elementary School has prepared its students to excel both in the classroom and in life; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Saltville Elementary School hereby be commended for being named a National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education in 2024; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Mitzi Frye, principal of Saltville Elementary School, as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for the school's performance and best wishes for its continued success.
