SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 325

Commending Darnell Greene.

Agreed to by the Senate, February 22, 2025

WHEREAS, Darnell Greene, a devoted teacher and coach and a trusted mentor at Manassas Park Middle School, received the 2025 Virginia Regional Teacher of the Year Award for Region 4 from the Virginia Department of Education; and

WHEREAS, Darnell Greene was inspired to become an educator based on his own experiences with supportive teachers and coaches who helped him succeed in high school; and

WHEREAS, Darnell Greene has been a teacher in Manassas Park for more than two decades and has fostered a passion for lifelong learning in countless students as a mathematics teacher and chair of the mathematics department at Manassas Park Middle School; and

WHEREAS, Darnell Greene strives to create an inclusive and engaging classroom experience and gives generously of his time to help students achieve their fullest potential; and

WHEREAS, outside of the classroom, Darnell Greene has coached track and basketball, helping student-athletes learn valuable lessons about teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance; and

WHEREAS, since 2015, Darnell Greene has personally mentored several younger teachers, many of whom had written letters of support for his selection as Region 4 Teacher of the Year; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Darnell Greene hereby be commended on the occasion of his selection as the 2025 Virginia Regional Teacher of the Year for Region 4; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Darnell Greene as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for his exceptional contributions to the education of young people in Manassas Park.
