SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 324

Commending Osbourn Park High School.

Agreed to by the Senate, February 22, 2025

WHEREAS, Osbourn Park High School received the Virginia School Breakfast Award from the Department of Education in 2025; and

WHEREAS, Osbourn Park High School was one of three schools in the Commonwealth to receive this distinguished honor, which recognizes the school's accomplishments in expanding breakfast access, maintaining nutritional integrity, and serving more scratch-cooked meals; and

WHEREAS, Osbourn Park High School was recently added to the United States Department of Agriculture's Community Eligibility Provision program, which provides free breakfast and lunch to all students and which led to an increase in the use of the school's cafeteria services; and

WHEREAS, led by manager Nidia Bruno, Osbourn Park High School's nutrition staff serves both hot and cold options, including seasonal smoothies, and operates with great efficiency to ensure students get the sustenance they need before embarking upon a day of learning; and

WHEREAS, Osbourn Park High School's achievements are the result of the leadership of the school's administrators and the tireless efforts and heartfelt dedication of the school's nutrition staff; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Osbourn Park High School hereby be commended for receiving the Department of Education's Virginia School Breakfast Award in 2025; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Osbourn Park High School as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the school's contributions to the health and well-being of young people in the Commonwealth.
