SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 319
Commending Amy Angel.
Agreed to by the Senate, February 22, 2025
WHEREAS, Amy Angel, a student at the Virginia Academy in Ashburn and resident of Manassas, received her first call-up to the El Salvador women's national soccer team in 2024; and
WHEREAS, Amy Angel trained with the El Salvador national team in April 2024 and looks to contribute to the team at future tournaments and World Cup qualifiers; and
WHEREAS, prior to playing with the El Salvador national team, Amy Angel also played on the country's youth national teams in World Cup qualifiers, and she was on the U-19 women's national team that placed third in the 2025 UNCAF Women's U-19 Tournament in Panama in January 2025; and
WHEREAS, in 2023, Amy Angel helped lead Charles J. Colgan, Sr. High School in Manassas to a Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship, earning second-team, all-Cardinal District honors for her efforts; and
WHEREAS, Amy Angel joined the Virginia Academy girls' soccer team as a central defensive midfielder in the 2023-2024 school year and will play at the University of Dayton after she graduates; and
WHEREAS, Amy Angel's accomplishments are the result of her hard work and dedication, the leadership and guidance of her coaches and trainers, and the unwavering support of her family and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Amy Angel hereby be commended for receiving her first call-up to the El Salvador women's national soccer team; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Amy Angel as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for her achievements and best wishes for her continued success.
