SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 297

Commending Daisy Moore.



Agreed to by the Senate, February 22, 2025

WHEREAS, Daisy Moore, a highly admired member of the Roanoke community, celebrated her 100th birthday on November 18, 2024; and

WHEREAS, born in 1924, Daisy Moore learned the value of hard work and responsibility while growing up on her family's farm in Carroll County; and

WHEREAS, Daisy Moore attended the former Lewis-Gale Hospital School of Nursing and pursued a career as a surgical nurse; and

WHEREAS, Daisy Moore settled in Roanoke, where her husband's family owned the Stone Printing and Manufacturing Company, which played an important role in the growth and development of the city; and

WHEREAS, Daisy Moore has long been active in civic affairs in Roanoke, providing her wise leadership to the Junior League of Roanoke Valley and the boards of numerous organizations; she also inspired young people as a Sunday school teacher at Second Presbyterian Church; and

WHEREAS, Daisy Moore has spread joy through her unwavering kindness and boundless generosity, and she is a humble servant leader who always celebrates the achievements of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Daisy Moore hereby be commended on the occasion of her 100th birthday; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Daisy Moore as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for her contributions to the Roanoke community and the Commonwealth.
