SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 286

Celebrating the life of Rashaun Dehaven Boland.



Agreed to by the Senate, February 20, 2025

WHEREAS, Rashaun Dehaven Boland, a distinguished law-enforcement officer, lieutenant with the City of Petersburg Bureau of Police, and a beloved member of the Hopewell community, died on November 5, 2024; and

WHEREAS, after graduating from Dinwiddie High School in 2007, Rashaun Boland earned an associate degree in criminal justice from East Coast Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from ITT Technical Institute in 2011; and

WHEREAS, Rashaun Boland began his law-enforcement career as a correctional officer at Riverside Regional Jail in Prince George County and later joined the City of Petersburg Bureau of Police; and

WHEREAS, Rashaun Boland completed his police academy training and quickly rose through the ranks from patrol officer to detective, then sergeant, and ultimately lieutenant, demonstrating an exceptional ability to lead and advance the mission of the City of Petersburg Bureau of Police; and

WHEREAS, with extraordinary courage, integrity, and compassion, Rashaun Boland epitomized the highest ideals of the law-enforcement profession, inspiring his fellow officers and the citizens he worked tirelessly to protect and serve; and

WHEREAS, Rashaun Boland was a member of the Pharaoh Souls Motorcycle Club and cherished every opportunity to ride motorcycles and make memories with his friends; and

WHEREAS, Rashaun Boland was a loving and devoted family man who gave his entire being to his children, supporting and encouraging them in each of their endeavors; and

WHEREAS, guided throughout his life by his faith, Rashaun Boland enjoyed worship and fellowship with his community at Metropolitan Baptist Church in Petersburg, where he served on the men's ministry and the security ministry; and

WHEREAS, Rashaun Boland will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his children, Ty'Shaun and Mariah; his mother, Denise; his grandmother, Bernadette; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Rashaun Dehaven Boland, a treasured member of the Petersburg and Hopewell communities whose dedication and service made an impact on countless lives; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Rashaun Dehaven Boland as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for his memory.
