SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 280

Commending Bethel Manor Elementary School.

Agreed to by the Senate, February 20, 2025

WHEREAS, Bethel Manor Elementary School of York County Public Schools was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department of Education in 2024; and

WHEREAS, this year, Bethel Manor Elementary School was one of only eight schools in the Commonwealth and 356 schools in the country to receive this prestigious honor, which recognizes high-performing schools and schools making exemplary progress toward closing achievement gaps; and

WHEREAS, Bethel Manor Elementary School serves a predominantly military-connected student body, with approximately 97 percent of its students coming from military families; and

WHEREAS, Bethel Manor Elementary School is dedicated to cultivating a supportive and inclusive learning environment that challenges its students to grow academically while fostering their physical, social, and emotional well-being; and

WHEREAS, Bethel Manor Elementary School offers a preschool program for children ages two to four, which focuses on building students' confidence, creativity, and critical thinking skills; and

WHEREAS, Bethel Manor Elementary School maintains a strong partnership with Langley Air Force Base Chapel, providing resources and support to military families; and

WHEREAS, in addition to the National Blue Ribbon School honor, Bethel Manor Elementary School was awarded the Highest Achievement Exemplar Award by the Virginia Board of Education in 2023; and

WHEREAS, the accomplishments of Bethel Manor Elementary School are the result of the hard work and determination of its students, the leadership and guidance of its teachers and staff, and the unwavering support of its families, partners, and the entire Bethel Manor Elementary School community; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Bethel Manor Elementary School hereby be commended for being named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2024; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Bethel Manor Elementary School as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for the school's achievements and best wishes for its continued success.
