SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 426
Commending Lina Liakakos.

WHEREAS, Lina Liakakos, a student at Langley High School, was presented a Student Peace Award of Fairfax County in 2024; and
WHEREAS, the Student Peace Awards of Fairfax County were established in 2006 to annually recognize one junior, one senior, or a student group at each public high school in Fairfax County who has worked to promote peace in their community; and
WHEREAS, after successfully raising funds to purchase socks and underwear for a local homeless shelter in her sophomore year, Lina Liakakos founded Delivering Hope, a service club at Langley High School dedicated to helping those in need through various endeavors; and
WHEREAS, in Delivering Hope's first two years, Lina Liakakos grew the club to more than 80 members, bringing the Langley High School community together around a common purpose and goal; and
WHEREAS, under Lina Liakakos's leadership, Delivering Hope has completed service projects with local homeless shelters and clothing centers, conducted clothing drives, and prepared and served a pre-Thanksgiving meal for 45 individuals; and
WHEREAS, Lina Liakakos's efforts have made a positive and lasting impact on the Fairfax County community, earning her the esteem and admiration of all Virginians; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Lina Liakakos for receiving a 2024 Student Peace Award of Fairfax County; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Lina Liakakos as an expression of the General Assembly's high regard for her contributions to Fairfax County and the Commonwealth.
