SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 398
Commending EduTutorVA.

WHEREAS, EduTutorVA, a distinguished virtual tutoring program supporting the growth and development of both students and teachers in the Commonwealth, was awarded a Tutoring Program Design Badge by the National Student Support Accelerator of Stanford University in 2024; and
WHEREAS, EduTutorVA was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic by several business, education, and government leaders who recognized the need for academic recovery following the educational disruption of the historic public health crisis; and
WHEREAS, EduTutorVA is dedicated to supporting third to eighth grade students who are struggling to excel academically by providing them with no-cost, virtual, small-group tutoring sessions to bolster their performance in the core subject areas of reading and math; and
WHEREAS, EduTutorVA employs a high-impact tutoring strategy to optimize the efficacy of its programs, utilizing data about each student to generate customized instruction plans tailored to their needs; and
WHEREAS, EduTutorVA's tutors are students from colleges and universities across the Commonwealth, many of whom are pursuing careers in education, who acquire valuable teaching experience, as well as coaching and training, through their involvement with the program; and
WHEREAS, EduTutorVA partners with national research and learning organizations to quantify the results of its efforts and to enhance its ability to assist the students and future teachers in its program; and
WHEREAS, to date, EduTutorVA has served 12 schools across five school divisions, with more than 300 tutors collectively giving more than 25,000 hours of their time for the benefit of the Commonwealth's young people; and
WHEREAS, the accomplishments of EduTutorVA have been made possible through the generous support of the organization's sponsors, including Google, Transurban, Altria, TD Charitable Foundation, and Dominion Energy; and
WHEREAS, by addressing educational equity and raising the academic performance and confidence of the Commonwealth's students, EduTutorVA has made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend EduTutorVA for receiving a Tutoring Program Design Badge from the National Student Support Accelerator of Stanford University in 2024; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to EduTutorVA as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for the organization's achievements and best wishes for its continued success.
