Commending Janel Donohue.

WHEREAS, Janel Donohue, who greatly served the Greater Fredericksburg community as president of the Rappahannock United Way, retired on June 30, 2024; and
WHEREAS, Janel Donohue became president of the Rappahannock United Way in 2010 and worked tirelessly for 15 years to support individuals and families in need through initiatives promoting education, financial stability, and healthy living; and
WHEREAS, under Janel Donohue's leadership, the Rappahannock United Way successfully raised millions of dollars to assist local nonprofits, implemented the Virginia ALICE Project, increased community engagement through programs such as Prosper Financial Assistance, Prosper Mentoring, and Prosper Students, and cultivated productive partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies to help fulfill the organization's mission; and
WHEREAS, Janel Donohue has received numerous accolades in recognition of her service, including the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce's Laurie A. Wideman Enterprising Woman's Award and Fredericksburg Leadership Impact Award, the University of Mary Washington's Women's Leadership Colloquium's Patricia Lacey Metzger Award, the Fredericksburg Host Lions Club's Lion of the Year Award, the Girl Scouts' Women of Distinction Award in Human Relations, and the Stafford Region's Most Influential Women Award; and
WHEREAS, Janel Donohue's sterling leadership and unwavering commitment to the well-being of others have made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives and leave an indelible imprint on the Greater Fredericksburg community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby commend Janel Donohue on the occasion of her retirement from the Rappahannock United Way; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Janel Donohue as an expression of the General Assembly's admiration for her legacy of service and best wishes in her future endeavors.
