Commending Josh Sweat.

WHEREAS, Josh Sweat, a native of Chesapeake, won Super Bowl LIX with the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League on February 9, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Josh Sweat was a standout and five-star recruit on the Oscar F. Smith High School football team of Chesapeake and led the team to an appearance in the Virginia High School League 6A state championship game in 2013; and

WHEREAS, over three seasons with the Florida State Seminoles, Josh Sweat tallied 138 combined tackles and 14.5 sacks over 37 games; and

WHEREAS, Josh Sweat was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 2018 National Football League (NFL) Draft and has helped the team become one of the most dominant in the league over the past seven seasons; and

WHEREAS, Josh Sweat posted his best statistical year in 2022 with 48 tackles and 11 sacks and had eight sacks in the 2024 regular season; and

WHEREAS, Josh Sweat was integral to the Philadelphia Eagles' victory in Super Bowl LIX, recording six total tackles, three quarterback hits, two-and-a-half sacks, and two tackles for loss; he also was a key part of a play that led to a defensive interception and touchdown, a major turning point of the game; and

WHEREAS, Josh Sweat's performance in Super Bowl LIX earned him consideration for Super Bowl Most Valuable Player honors and has brought great pride to the Commonwealth; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Josh Sweat hereby be commended for winning Super Bowl LIX; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Josh Sweat as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his achievements and best wishes for his continued success.
