Commending Malachi White.

WHEREAS, in 2024, Malachi White of the Oscar Smith High School football team was named to the Virginia High School League Class 6 All-State First Team; and

WHEREAS, the Oscar Smith High School football team finished the 2024 season with a perfect 17–0 record and won the Virginia High School League Class 6 state championship; and

WHEREAS, during the 2024 season, the Oscar Smith Tigers earned their 20th Southeastern District championship title, their 12th 6A Region championship title, and their fifth state title in program history; and

WHEREAS, as a junior linebacker, Malachi White was the leading tackler for the Oscar Smith Tigers with an astonishing 105 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception, and two pass break ups; he was a crucial member of a defense that gave up only 95 points in 15 games and was recognized as one of the best defensive units in the Commonwealth in 2024; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Malachi White hereby be commended on being selected as a member of the 2024 Virginia High School League Class 6 All-State First Team; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Malachi White as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his athletic achievements.
