AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE

A BILL to direct the Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services to evaluate whether to include testing for those disorders included on the federal Recommended Uniform Screening Panel in the Commonwealth's newborn screening requirements, including any benefits and associated costs.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. § 1. That the Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services is directed to evaluate whether to include testing for those disorders included on the federal Recommended Uniform Screening Panel in the Commonwealth's newborn screening requirements, including any benefits and associated costs. The Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services shall report on the findings of its evaluation and any recommendations to the Chairs of the Senate Committee on Education and Health, the Senate Committee on Finance and Appropriations, the House Committee on Health and Human Services, and the House Committee on Appropriations by November 1, 2025.
