Commending Teresa Clawson-Keeton.

WHEREAS, Teresa Clawson-Keeton, an employment and transition representative at Chantilly High School in Fairfax County, has greatly served students with disabilities and their families for several years; and
WHEREAS, Teresa Clawson-Keeton attended Lesley University and previously worked for the Cooperative Employment Program with the Fairfax County office of the Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services; and
WHEREAS, Teresa Clawson-Keeton began serving as an employment and transition representative at Oakton High School in Fairfax County and has since transferred to Chantilly High School, where she works tirelessly to guide students with disabilities as they navigate the gap between school and post-school activities; and
WHEREAS, in her role as an employment and transition representative, Teresa Clawson-Keeton has created work-based learning experiences in the community, facilitated mock interview days, taught lessons on self-advocacy, and organized employer appreciation events; and
WHEREAS, Teresa Clawson-Keeton fosters strong partnerships with employers in the region to create opportunities for her students to develop workforce readiness and other valuable professional and life skills; and
WHEREAS, in recognition of her outstanding performance, leadership, and community service, Teresa Clawson-Keeton was presented a Fairfax County Public Schools Shining Star Award in 2019; and
WHEREAS, Teresa Clawson-Keeton is an exemplary special educator whose work represents the best in transition practices, and she has made a profound and lasting impact on countless lives; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate of Virginia, That Teresa Clawson-Keeton hereby be commended for her legacy of service in helping students with disabilities prepare for rewarding and meaningful lives after school; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Teresa Clawson-Keeton as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's admiration for her contributions to Fairfax County and the Commonwealth.
