WHEREAS, Rick S. Judd, a distinguished law-enforcement officer who touched countless lives through his commitment to excellence, has retired from the Falls Church Police Department after 30 years of service; and
WHEREAS, Rick Judd originally joined the Falls Church Police Department as an emergency communications technician in 1994, then became a sworn officer of the department in 1999; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Academy, Rick Judd was assigned to the Falls Church Police Department's night shift patrol squad, where he served for 10 years; and
WHEREAS, in 2009, Rick Judd became the only traffic unit officer at the Falls Church Police Department and handled numerous traffic crashes and issued countless citations over the next six years; he earned the admiration of his colleagues and members of the public alike for his professionalism and composure; and
WHEREAS, during this time, Rick Judd also underwent extensive training and proudly became the Falls Church Police Department's police motorcycle officer; and
WHEREAS, in 2015, Rick Judd returned to the night shift as a patrol sergeant and relished every opportunity to mentor younger officers; three years later, he was promoted to lieutenant and assumed his most recent leadership role as the watch commander for the night shift patrol; and
WHEREAS, over the course of his career, Rick Judd served the residents of Falls Church with the utmost integrity and dedication to duty, forging strong bonds between the Falls Church Police Department and the public while enhancing the department's ability to fulfill its mission; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Rick S. Judd hereby be commended on the occasion of his retirement from the Falls Church Police Department; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Rick S. Judd as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his commitment to serving and protecting the members of the Falls Church community.
