WHEREAS, Gary Fuller, acting planning director with the City of Falls Church's Department of Community Planning and Economic Development Services, has served the residents of the community for more than 35 years; and
WHEREAS, a native of Charlottesville and a graduate of Old Dominion University and the University of Virginia School of Architecture, Gary Fuller began his career in local government and public service when he joined Falls Church Community Planning and Economic Development Services as a planner on August 28, 1989; he was then promoted to senior planner in June of the following year; and
WHEREAS, over the course of his career, Gary Fuller has served as planning director, deputy planning director, principal planner, and acting department director for the City of Falls Church, demonstrating strong leadership in directing city planning functions and activities in the community; and
WHEREAS, as case planner for major mixed-use developments, Gary Fuller has processed numerous legislative approvals and entitlements during the past 20 years and provided essential staff support to development and site plan cases; and
WHEREAS, among his many awards and accolades, Gary Fuller received the 2008 Performance Award for his work on the Falls Church City Center review project and was nominated for the employee of the year award in recognition of his exemplary work and consistent support for local community redevelopment objectives, projects, and land use actions; and
WHEREAS, throughout his career, Gary Fuller has been committed to continuing professional education and excellence, earning certifications from the American Planning Association, the American Institute of Certified Planners, and the Virginia Association of Zoning Officials; and
WHEREAS, through his extensive knowledge, patience, and professionalism, Gary Fuller has helped countless individuals and businesses, including numerous members of the Falls Church City Council and Falls Church Planning Commission, to better understand the city's zoning, planning, and development processes; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the House of Delegates, That Gary Fuller hereby be commended for more than 35 years of service as a member of the City of Falls Church's Department of Community Planning and Economic Development Services; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the House of Delegates prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to Gary Fuller as an expression of the House of Delegates' admiration for his contributions to the Falls Church community.
